SMS + email
Message applicants the way they answer.
Right now Apex offers SMS and email. The inbox works like a chat, so a recruiter can text an applicant from the record, see the reply in seconds, and hand the thread to a colleague without forwarding anything.
Interactive preview. Pick a template or type your own, then send. Replies are simulated.

Enable and use SMS
Four steps from off to texting.
SMS is included on Growth and Enterprise plans. Setup takes a few minutes and does not need anyone from IT.
Turn on SMS
Settings → Messaging → Enable SMS. Apex provisions a dedicated local number for your account and registers it for business messaging so texts are delivered, not filtered.
Set your sending rules
Choose quiet hours, who can send, and whether hiring managers can text or only recruiters. The opt-out footer is added for you on first contact.
Add templates
Write the five messages you send every day once. Merge fields pull the applicant name, job title, interview time and scheduling link.
Send from the record
Open any applicant, choose Message, pick SMS or Email, type or pick a template, send. The thread lives on the record and in the shared inbox.
Send a message to an applicant
From the record to their phone.
- 1Open the applicant. From a job’s pipeline, click the name, or search from anywhere.
- 2Click Message. Choose SMS or Email in the composer. Both use the same thread.
- 3Type a message or choose a template. Preview shows the merged text before you send.
- 4Send. The applicant gets it from your dedicated number or your recruiter’s email address.
- 5Reply lands in the inbox. Anyone on the team can pick it up; the record shows who answered.
