Connect Twilio and Resend

SMS is sent through your Twilio account and email through Resend. Paste the credentials in Settings, Integrations and point Twilio's webhooks at Apex.

Steps

  1. 1Create a Twilio account and buy a local number, or create a Messaging Service with one or more numbers.
  2. 2In Apex, open Settings, Integrations, Twilio and paste the Account SID and Auth Token. Enter either the Messaging Service SID or the phone number in E.164 format (+15551234567).
  3. 3In the Twilio console, set the number's incoming message webhook to https://ats.apexsales.ai/api/twilio/inbound (HTTP POST) and the status callback to https://ats.apexsales.ai/api/twilio/status.
  4. 4Complete A2P 10DLC brand and campaign registration in Twilio if you text US numbers.
  5. 5For email, create a Resend account, verify your sending domain, and paste the API key and a from address into Settings, Integrations, Resend.
  6. 6Send a test SMS and email to yourself from an applicant record.

Bringing your own accounts means messages come from your number and your domain, you pay carrier costs at cost, and you keep the accounts if you ever leave. Email works out of the box through our shared Resend account; SMS always needs a Twilio account.

How inbound texts are matched

When Twilio posts an inbound message, Apex finds the workspace by the receiving number and the applicant by the sending number. If the sender is unknown, the message is stored in the inbox as unmatched so a recruiter can link it to a record or ignore it.

Security

Credentials are stored encrypted and never shown again after saving. Twilio webhook requests are verified with your Auth Token signature before anything is written.
